To maximize your time on campus, get a feel for the sights in advance online and make a list of everything you want to see IRL.
First things first, schedule a tour! Most colleges and universities offer tour programs that give you a chance to explore campus with a student guide, which can be a great way to get a feel for the place.
While tours are an excellent place to start with any on-campus visit, they won’t give you the full picture. If possible, try to check out the campus environment and offerings beyond the structure of a tour on your own time.
Be social! Get real-world insights and firsthand experiences outside of the brochures by talking to people on campus. Chances are, they’ll be happy to share their experiences.
The best way to experience the academic and social atmosphere of the school is by attending a class or event. If you have the chance, don’t pass it up!
If you’re considering multiple schools, now is the time to use your phone. Type notes, take pictures and capture anything that will help you later on when it comes time to make an informed decision about where to apply.
